Special Education Support Homepage

Welcome, 2011-2012 School Year!

Can you believe summer is over? You wouldn’t know it to look at our September weather, would you! What is wonderful to see is that our students’ smiles are as bright as the sun. It is great to see everyone back and ready to learn! That said, we know that getting to know new routines and teachers isn’t always easy. Please let us know if you have any concerns about how your child is doing.

Special Education support at Arcadia Elementary comes in many forms.

For academic, behavioral, and life skills support, we have a Resource Room, Structured Learning Center (SLC), and Transitional Learning Center (TLC). Our staff provide both pull out and in class support services for special education students based upon each individual student’s needs.

We provide speech and language support through our Speech and Language Pathologist (for students on an Individual Education Plan).

We have both Fine and Gross Motor support available for students needing an Individual Education Plan for occupational and physical therapy.

And available to all students in need, including those in special education, our school counselor offers “Friendship Groups” for students who benefit from social skills support; our TITLE/TOSA teacher coordinates academic skills groups for students needing specific, targeted interventions in the general education environment; and we have an after school program, “Stepping Stone,” available for students that offers pre-teaching of math concepts and homework support.

Arcadia’s staff firmly believes that every student counts, that each student is unique, and that all students can learn.
